Green Hair
I don't have green hair
September 2024
- ‘Green Hair’ is a metaphor for standing strong in what you know to be true & not letting the confusion of gaslighting get to you. Let’s say your hair is blonde. If I told you your hair was green, you would know for a fact it wasn’t. The metaphor ‘Green Hair’ acts as a grounding reference!
‘Green hair ’was first written in a very free form. I started with the Green Hair metaphor , playing open chords to give me the freedom to explore cool erie melodies. From there, the rest of the lyrics & melody naturally started flowing. More structure was put to the song while recording the demo. During the production process , there were so many edits & revisions, I think I went back & made changes after “deciding on the final” at least 3 times. This was just one of those songs that had so much creativity to it, it had to be just right.
Inspiration
Yebba & Tate Mcrae
I hope ‘green hair’ provides listeners with a sense of courage & empowerment while also feeling heard & seen.
Did you work with collaborators? Yes I did! One thing the common listener may not realize is how much influence production has on a song, it changes the entire sound. This is an incredibly important step in the process of bringing any song to life, as it heavily transforms the sound.

Do you have a favorite part? Yes! The “hair’ whisper ending the first chorus and “left, right, white or green” in the bridge. These parts just “scratch the itch”, and are so satisfying
Would you change anything about this project?
No, I absolutely love this song.
Whats next? Are you working on any new music or creative project? Yes! I am always writing and have so much planned for 2025.
Maintaining structure and utilizing creative , intentional word choice & melody is how I balance artistic freedom with making music that resonates with my audience.
